David started workshop with the activity  using the “draw your hand” activity.  Participants are given a blank piece of paper and are told to lay their left hand on the paper and with a pen/pencil trace your hand. Then he explains that each finger represents a characteristic about you: (1) the little finger: a personal weekness; (2)ring finger: commitment; (3) pointer finger: who or what is inspiring you; (4) thumb: something  at which you are good. After all have completed the hand drawing and have answered the question on each finger, he asks for volunteers to say what they wrote.

5/13/11: Information on Paracin, Serbia Leadership Workshop.

#1. What is it: A 2-hour Leadership Workshop presented by TWI (Training Workshops International). Topic: "Crucial Conversations" ("crucial": e.g. of supreme importance, critical, difficult, severe) and Organizational Leadership.

>

#2. Topic Summary: When we look back at our life, we realize that we were actually shaped by conversations we had with others. If you take a minute to think about it - what you probably remember most about the 'forks' in the roads in your life that led you to making one decision instead of another were really actual conversations you had with people. . For example:, you always wanted to be a doctor because your Dad was a doctor and all your youth you watched the way he  saved lives and you wanted to do that also. However, after spending the summer with  your grandfather, a well-known lawyer, you changed your mind and studied Law instead of Medicine. These were "Crucial Conversations" that changed the "road of life that you took"...it was your "fork" in the road.

4/11/11:  Leadership Workshop Topics for Kosovo/Montenegro.

#1. WORKSHOP TOPICS: Same topics that are presented in Bijela will be presented in
Kosovo Workshops. The idea is to explain to the participants the necessity for
communication skills and leadership skills
in order to have a prosperous career in the future.

#2. PARTICIPANTS - Participants in Kosovo will be young persons who are also
volunteers with QPEA. Some of them are about to enter university.

#3. Kosovo Workshops  Repeated in Montenegro:  The
program presented in Kosovo will be repeated in Montenegro. This assists in training volunteers
to be leaders in their communities. Also, it facilitates the job of the interpreter.

Coordinators in Serbia,
Macedonia, and Kosovo have been sent a Summary of  Topic #1".
Kosovo is ready for the workshop on communication skills. There will be group exercises/role
play dealing with “Crucial Conversations”.

Topic #2 will be “Leadership Skills" and the importance of
communicating well and the ability to lead conversations in achieving
Group Cohesiveness and Group Project Success.

3/2/11: Trip outline:

#1. A 2 hour program in Paracin, Serbia. To be held on the late afternoon/early evening that we arrive in the city. On this day we drive from Sarajevo to Paracin, check in at the Hotel, have the Workshop, join our TWI team members from Paracin for dinner.

#2. A 1-day program in Macedonia (perhaps a 9-12AM workshop; lunch-with participants going to a local cafe; 1-3PM workshop). We can leave after the workshop and drive to Pristina, Kosovo for dinner and overnight.

#3. A 2-day program in Kosovo (6 hours total) --- (with a morning and afternoon workshop ... and we would host a short camp program that involves the participants and kids so that we can use our leadership skills in this activity.

#4. A 2-day program in Montenegro (7 or so hours total) -- (with daily schedule same as we have done there in the past - morning workshop, camp activity at the orphanage, afternoon workshop, dinner, evening workshop.

3/2/11: TWI will take its Leadership Workshops to Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo and to its three-day workshop in Montenegro during July 2011. PURPOSE

Purpose of the TWI Leadership Training Camp was to bring "TWI for the Children"    Leadership Workshop Training to students and interested instructors and small business leaders in the Balkans. The Workshops were conducted by two very successful American businessmen interested in working with leaders from Balkan countries.

The Goal of each Leadership Training Workshop were to

(1) Discuss career skills necessary for working in a multicultural workplace. The workshops were informal and in many incidences were held in conjunction with the "TWI camp for the Children". Participants  shared in all discussions.

(2)  Invite team members with successful careers to discuss their careers, how they selected their career, and to introduce  leadership skills needed for success.

(3)
Discuss the careers open to entrepreneurs today, what they must be willing to do to be successful, discuss necessary steps to success, and how a successful leader is important to the growth of a nation.
