This page provides information for the University scholarships provided by "TWI for the Children, Inc." to Balkan students for their continuing education in the 2008-2009 school-year.

Scholarships AbroadIn 2008- 2009, TWI for the Children provided funds to two students, Ibro Ademovic and Sead Halilovic (both students from Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina) at Anatolia College, The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) in Greece; Nedim Hamzic at Deree College (American College of Greece) in Athens, Greece; and Nedzad Hamzic, a student at University of Sarajevo, Sarajevo, Bosnia for the 2008-2009 school year. All of the students are from Bosnia.

At the end of the school year (December 2008) Senad Halilovic continued his studies and was sponsored by TWI until he graduated from ACT in June 2009. Ibro Ademovic graduated in December 2008. Nedim Hamzic transferred to the University of Indianapolis in Athens. TWI sponsored Nedim's last semester at the University of Indianapolis in the United States where he graduated in December 2008. Nedim returned to Athens to take post-graduate study.

In June 2009, Senad Halilovic graduated from Anatolia College.  CONGRATULATIONS

To receive funding from TWI, these students were required to maintain above average grades as well as demonstrate continued leadership ability to retain these scholarships which helped to provide food and accommodations while in school. Students are selected on their financial need and scholastic background.  The aim of the project is to provide future leaders of high quality to their country. In 2009, only Senad Halilovic will be sponsored by TWI.

Dzan Sijercic to complete his senior year in High School in the United States: During the past few years, Dzan has served as an interpreter and team leader for TWI camps in the Balkans. In 2009, he attended the Leadership Workshop in Montenegro. In July 2009, TWI was asked to provide administrative help for Dzan to come to the United States to attend his senior year in high school in New Jersey. TWI has provided this assistance and Dzan is not enrolled in high school in New Jersey and enjoying life in the United States.

Dzan Writes:  (September 2009) I am in Marlton, New Jersey with the Janssen Family. My school is called Camden Catholic High School which is located in Cherry Hill. I am a senior and the courses I take are: Algebra III, Western Literature II, AP Psychology, Chemistry, Peace and Justice Religion, U.S. History II. Beside going to school and doing homework I am wrestling at the Top Cat wrestling club and will try out for the Fighting Irish Camden Catholic School wrestling team. Another thing I intend is to continue with my jiu jitsu classes in the Spring. I also went to a few cities, attended a few games (Baseball, Football, Hockey), Six Flags and intend to do more traveling and see and experience as much as I can.
