TWI Camp for Children
 in Bosnia and
in Montenegro
"PREPARATION RESULTS" 
July 3-21, 2005

   

The purpose of this page is to provide the results of the Camp planning  done by the Team Members participating in the July 2005 "Camps for Kids" in Bosnia and in Montenegro.

 

A team planning meeting was held in conjunction with a jewelry fund-raiser on May 9th, 2005. 

 

Volunteers  selected their groups (1) arts & crafts, (2) music & dancing, (3) games)  to lead . 

 THEME: Carnival"

 

COUNTRY GROUPS:

*** USA

*** China

*** South America

*** Italy

 

COLOR GROUPS:

*** Blue: USA

*** Red: China

*** Yellow: South American

*** Green: Italy

 

STORY:

“Miss Spider’s Carnival Tea Party”

*** Moral of the story: Be kind to others and try to never hurt anyone’s feelings. And if you do hurt someone’s feelings, be sure to go to him/her and say “I’m sorry”.

 

GROUPS:

(1)     Arts & Crafts:

·         Make Carnival masks

·         Decorate cloth drawstring backpacks

·         Stain Glass photo frames

·         Foam & Bead Star Key Chain

(2)     Music & Dancing:

·       Use a tape/DC player.

·         Square dances, line dances, etc.

(3)     Games:

·         Races, ball toss, balloon races, etc.

   

Collected for the Crafts and Gifts:

·         Foam & bead key chain craft – foam stars 

·         Foam & bead key chain craft – plastic beads

·         Mardi Gras beads

·        Banners that represent each country (example: Chinese dragon)

·         Latex balloons for games

·         Vinyl Porcupine Balls for disable camps

·         Inflatable beach balls

·         New or ‘like new’ used sports equipment to donate to school & orphanages

(7)     Rama  Camp for Children with Special Needs …………  46 children (includes sisters & brothers)

(8)     Srebrenica  Camp for Persons with Special Needs …..50 Persons (includes sisters & brothers)

 

 

MONEY TALK:

 

(1)     More  than $2000.00 was donated to purchases all materials needed for the camps

 

(2)     We received donations to cover the material costs and in-kind donations for much more.

Bloomingdale's gave gifts for the teachers and caregivers and for teen-aged orphans.  American Marketing imprinted hats and t-shirts for the kids.
