TWI for the Children's
Humanitarian Activities in the Balkans
TWI for the Children, Inc. supports projects
that assist persons and activities with special needs. Since 1999, TWI has
funded
two projects, The
Family Retreat for families having children with special
needs and the Learning Center for Children with Special Needs. TWI
also provides support to persons and individual organizations on an "as
needed" basis.
Family Retreat at Rama:
Annually, TWI hosts a 2-day retreat for children with special needs and their families at the "House of Peace" in Rama central Bosnia-Herzegovina, during the summer. At this camp the children and their families play games, take part in crafts, songs, dance and stories and have an opportunity to relax with their families in a beautiful place of rest. This retreat is spiritual and relaxing plus providing an opportunity to have good food prepared by the Monastery's staff. The children are able to leave the confines of their small apartments in Sarajevo and enjoy the beauty of nature. We encourage you to read about our success with this project (learn why TWI annually works to take children with special needs and their families to a weekend retreat in the mountains of central Bosnia.)
