International Studies

Purpose 


The International Studies Program:
 
    (1) Brings  university age  students to America for short term internship programs; 

    (2) Takes American instructors for short-term courses at universities in Bosnia;  
 
    (3) Takes volunteers from the United States to provide English educational support to orphanages in Bosnia and Montenegro;

    (4) Provides  scholarships for Bosnian students at universities in the Balkans.

   

     

Projects

 

Educational Support to Orphanages in the Balkans: (Funded)

 TWI for the Children sends volunteers to   orphanages in the Balkans.  The volunteers live at the  orphanages. Volunteers  teach English and related subjects while working with the children. Volunteers are expected to stay at the orphanage for a minimum of one month.  Learn about our Educational Projects  at Orphanages in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Montenegro. Also included is an English Language Project in Bosnia. 

 

This project will  be held in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina in May and June 2008.

  If you are interested in this project you can obtain an Application to work in the Education Project in orphanages in the Balkans when funds become available.

 

 

University Instructors to Bosnia: (Unfunded 2008)

TWI for the Children provided Professors and instructors to the University Dzemal Bijedic in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina on short term assignments. Our instructors teach courses of need to the Dzemal Bijedic University.  

 


Scholarships for Balkan Students (Fully Funded)

TWI for the Children  provides scholarships to selected students from Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend colleges and technical schools in Greece and Bosnia.  During the 2008-2009 school-year TWI for the Children will provide funds  to students attending Anatolia University  and Indianapolis College  in Greece and  the University of Sarajevo in  Bosnia. Short Term Student Visits to the United States
(unfunded 2008)

TWI for the Children  brings students to the United States and provides accommodations for short periods of study at universities and businesses that will help them in their studies and vocations in Bosnia.  See pictures of our students while they were studying in the United States. Currently, there are no students studying in the USA. Read a report of our success in bringing students to the United States from 1999- 2000.
